\u2014 and to cross them in an exceptional way. An incredibly rich exhibition, which explores the theme of borders in a very original manner, so beautiful that I regret not having conceived and organized it myself when I was president of the MAXXI Museum in Rome. This should give an idea of its curatorial, thematic, and research quality, as well as its sheer beauty.\u201d<br data-start=\"455\" data-end=\"458\" \/>With these words, the Minister of Culture <strong>Alessandro Giuli<\/strong> \u2014 currently visiting Friuli Venezia Giulia \u2014 commented on the exhibition <em data-start=\"590\" data-end=\"625\"><strong>\u201cConfini. From Gauguin to Hopper<\/strong>\u201d<\/em>, set up in the East Wing Exedra of <strong>Villa Manin<\/strong>, in Passariano di Codroipo (Udine).<\/p><p data-start=\"712\" data-end=\"1343\"><strong data-start=\"712\" data-end=\"766\">\u201cIt\u2019s an exhibition that absolutely must be seen,\u201d<\/strong> <strong>Minister Giul<\/strong>i continued at the end of the guided tour led by curator <strong>Marco Goldin,<\/strong> accompanied by the Italian Minister for Parliamentary Relations <strong>Luca Ciriani and the Deputy Governor of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region Mario Anzil.<\/strong><br data-start=\"1000\" data-end=\"1003\" \/>\u201cThere is such expressive quality here, and truly authentic painting gems that aren\u2019t easy to find even in their home museums. The selection is extremely thorough, and the thematic arrangement is exceptional. It deserves to be valued, and it\u2019s only right \u2014 as is already happening \u2014 that the public comes, enjoys it, and celebrates it.\u201d<\/p><p data-start=\"1345\" data-end=\"1683\">This recognition had already been anticipated in recent days by the Ministry of Culture, which officially declared the exhibition to be <strong data-start=\"1481\" data-end=\"1534\">\u201c<\/strong>of significant cultural and scientific interest\u201d, and capable of \u201chighlighting, through a comparative lens, the universal scope of the idea of the border as an aesthetic and cultural category.\u201d<\/p><p data-start=\"1685\" data-end=\"1949\">It is, in short, a unique exhibition with an international scope, featuring <strong data-start=\"1761\" data-end=\"1829\">130 masterpieces by major artists of the 19th and 20th centuries<\/strong>, loaned by important museums across Europe and the United States \u2014 and it is attracting extraordinary public attention.<\/p><p data-start=\"1951\" data-end=\"2303\">In its first <strong data-start=\"1964\" data-end=\"1986\">30 days of opening<\/strong>, around <strong data-start=\"1995\" data-end=\"2012\">20,000 people<\/strong> visited the exhibition, set up in the newly restored East Wing Exedra of the magnificent former ducal residence. On some days, attendance exceeded <strong data-start=\"2160\" data-end=\"2178\">2,000 visitors<\/strong>, prompting organizers to keep the exhibition open an extra hour to accommodate all those patiently waiting in line to enter.<\/p><p data-start=\"2305\" data-end=\"2494\">More than 40% of visitors booked their tickets in advance, coming from 62 Italian provinces and from abroad, especially from neighboring Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, and Germany.<\/p><p data-start=\"2496\" data-end=\"3532\">The public\u2019s appreciation is also reflected in several indicators, starting with the exceptional number of catalogues sold (about one for every seven visitors), as well as the choice of one in three visitors to rent the audio guide (not included in the ticket price). The audio guide features the <strong>curator Marco Goldin<\/strong> narrating his own \u201cpersonal\u201d interpretation of the exhibition.<br data-start=\"2884\" data-end=\"2887\" \/>He commented on these early results:<br data-start=\"2923\" data-end=\"2926\" \/>\u201cBeyond the joy of seeing such strong numbers right away \u2014 and all the more so considering how remote Villa Manin is compared to typical visitor routes \u2014 what I really want to highlight is the audience\u2019s appreciation for the exhibition project and for the number of masterpieces included, coming from dozens of museums worldwide. It shows that people can clearly recognize the quality and value of a project that took years of work and has now brought together, in the renovated East Wing Exedra, over a hundred paintings representing the idea of the border in art between the 19th and 20th centuries.\u201d<\/p><p data-start=\"3534\" data-end=\"3628\">Regional leaders who strongly supported the exhibition have also emphasized its early success.<\/p><p data-start=\"3630\" data-end=\"4438\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><strong>Massimiliano Fedriga, President of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia<\/strong>:<br data-start=\"3716\" data-end=\"3719\" \/>\u201cThe public success of the exhibition <em data-start=\"3759\" data-end=\"3790\">\u2018Confini da Gauguin a Hopper\u2019<\/em> fills us with pride and confirms the central role of culture for our region. Reaching this number of visitors in such a short time is proof not only of the extraordinary quality of the exhibition, but also of the ability of our region and of Villa Manin to host events of international relevance. This exhibition \u2014 which perfectly embodies the theme of our borderland culture \u2014 shows that a \u2018border\u2019 is not a limit, but an extraordinary opportunity for dialogue and growth. The exhibition is not only an artistic production of international resonance but also a powerful vehicle for promoting our Region. The numbers recorded so far show how the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and Erpac FVG have been able to present an event with international scope and of the highest cultural level.<\/p><p data-start=\"1365\" data-end=\"1662\">This massive attendance is not merely a positive statistical figure, but the tangible sign of the deep emotional and intellectual resonance that the theme of the \u2018border\u2019\u2014understood not as a geographical limit, but as an inner, artistic, and human threshold\u2014has been able to evoke in visitors.<\/p><p data-start=\"1664\" data-end=\"2449\">The exhibition, curated by <strong>Marco Goldin<\/strong> and promoted in collaboration with the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia within the framework of \u2018GO!2025&amp;Friends\u2019, is confirmed as a cornerstone of our commitment to enhancing cultural heritage and promoting a borderland culture that fosters dialogue and reflection, projecting Villa Manin and the entire region towards the future. I conclude by expressing my pride in leading an institution\u2014Erpac FVG\u2014that is able to position itself as a partner to the world\u2019s most important museums and that has the organizational capacity to bring to life such an ambitious project.
