On Sunday, 21st September, the courtyard of honour of the Doge’s residence will host an event called ASSALTI – SCHERMA STORICA – Artistic Gymnastics and Fencing.

The event is an integral part of the Vola Alto con lo Sport (Fly High with Sport) project https://www.volaaltoconlosport.it, managed by CONI FVG and funded by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.

Specifically, the event, sponsored by the Municipality of Codroipo, the participating federations and associations, in collaboration with ERPAC, aims to highlight, through a promotional event, the sporting activities of fencing, historical fencing, Paralympic fencing and artistic gymnastics.

The day will begin at 3 p.m. with the setting up of a series of platforms, positioned under the west barchessa, which will allow young fencers to introduce the public to this ancient sport.

At the same time, on the Doge’s “terrace”, overlooking the central hall of the Villa, young gymnasts from the local Polisportiva Codroipo sports club will perform.

Their harmonious movements will blend with the architectural symmetry of the Villa Manin complex. The performances will also be accompanied by historical fencing, an ancient martial art that will take the Doge’s complex back to its heyday, when duels were the solution to disputes between nobles.

At the same time, young gymnasts from the local Polisportiva Codroipo sports club will perform on the Doge’s terrace, which overlooks the central hall of the Villa.

The participating associations are Polisportiva Codroipo, Scherma Lame Friulane, Gemina Scherma, Udine Friuli Scherma, Sala d’Arme Achille Marozzo FVG, and Fiore dei Liberi fencing academy, all under the auspices of the FVG FIS Regional Committee and the UISP.
