In the Doge Manin garden, Gustav Klimt’s *Nuda Veritas* is on display, and the gates will reopen exceptionally on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September for the 23rd edition of the historic event dedicated to plants and crafts.
A whole weekend to experience the region’s largest historic park and discover a programme designed for the whole family, combining nature, art, culture and history. Workshops, entertainment, cultural events and guided tours will guide visitors on a journey of discovery through Villa Manin, the park and its many facets.
A weekend of celebrations paying tribute to Gustav Klimt’s masterpiece ‘Nuda Veritas’, on exceptional display at Villa Manin in dialogue with the spaces of the Doge’s residence and the park.
This will, in fact, be the last chance to admire the work in this extraordinary setting before its permanent return to Vienna.
A special event to be captivated by the beauty of the plants and the landscape, to meet artisans and nursery owners, to take part in the activities and to rediscover the pleasure of spending time in the open air.
A weekend to be enjoyed in the spirit of art, culture, history and nature, in the heart of the Doge’s Garden.
Experiences
Saturday 5th, from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm Games from days gone by
A trip down memory lane, featuring simple challenges, laughter and games that have entertained whole generations: tin can alley, ring toss and football bowling. A challenge with a touch of yesteryear, in partnership with Vintage Park
Sunday 6th, from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm: Discovering Birds of Prey
A close-up encounter with the fascinating world of birds of prey and the ancient art of falconry, together with the Acrobati del Sole
Throughout the day, you’ll be able to admire the splendid birds up close and meet the falconers, who will be on hand to share interesting facts, characteristics and habits of these extraordinary animals.
Seeds, cuttings and knowledge (free exchange)
Sunday 6th, from 9.00 am until sunset
Together with the experts invited by OrtoBorto, we will discover the value of seed conservation, horticultural biodiversity and local and traditional varieties: a precious heritage to be explored, safeguarded and passed on.
Afterwards, there will be a free seed and cutting exchange: visitors can bring their own varieties to share or find new seeds and cuttings to take home, thereby helping to spread knowledge, crops and biodiversity.
Access to the exchange is free and open at all times to all visitors to the event. However, anyone wishing to make their own seeds or cuttings available free of charge must first register via the dedicated online form, managed by OrtoBorto. Email: info@ortoborto.org
Ideas for the little ones
Sunday 5th, from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm
Artistic Vases
A workshop dedicated to creating an original paper vase cover, where patterns and decorations draw inspiration from the world of flowers and the work of great artists and designers. By experimenting with graphic symbols and styles, you will create your own personal composition: a unique object,
designed to hold a flower and bring a touch of creativity to everyday life.
Saturday 6th, from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm
Imaginary Gardens
Through symbols, shapes and colours, an imaginary garden comes to life, filled with unique and surprising flowers. Using drawing tools and wire, each participant will be able to design and create their own flowers, experimenting with different lines, movements and compositions. The creations will then be brought together into a personal bouquet, transforming simple materials into an original and colourful arrangement.
The workshops are designed for girls and boys aged 5 to 10 and will be run on an ‘open lab’ basis: participation is free and ongoing, with no fixed sessions or set start and end times.
Workshops for adults
Saturday 5th at 4.00 pm: Handbag-style vase for cut flowers
Together with Laura from Fiorificio, we’ll create a hay handbag-style vase to hold a bouquet of late-summer flowers.
This workshop is limited to a maximum of 10 people.
Sunday 6th at 2.00 pm and 4.30 pm: End-of-summer wreath
Using flowers grown and picked by Jagoda Flowerfarm, we’ll make a wreath to bid farewell to summer and welcome autumn
Each workshop is limited to a maximum of 15 people.
Sunday 6th at 5.00 pm Cooking workshop
A cookery demonstration exploring plant-based cuisine and the flavours of our region. We will be preparing a potato and carrot mille-feuille served with Bernese sauce, a red wine reduction, tarragon powder and fermented wild garlic buds.
Organised by Lato Food
An experience for up to 30 people
To take part in the adult workshops, there is an entry fee of €5.00 per person per workshop, plus the €3.00 admission ticket to the event.
You can book your place via the Eventbrite platform using the dedicated links.
You can then complete your ticket purchase at the ticket office located at the entrance to the Barchessa di Levante. Please meet at the bookshop 30 minutes before the activity starts. After this time, your place on the workshop can no longer be guaranteed.
