The garden of wonders
The new stage of the Villa Manin multimedia trail
Wearing 3D visors, it will be possible to be accompanied by Giovanni Ziborghi – Manin’s master of the house in the first decades of the 18th century – on an extraordinary journey of discovery of the villa’s garden in its most sumptuous era, when it was characterised by water features, hanging gardens, veranda theatres, labyrinths and models of fortresses. Ziborghi will tell us how he was inspired by a ‘French zardiniere’ visiting Passariano, how he reworked his ideas, chose the plants for the parterres, commissioned statues to line the avenues, and devised scenographic architecture to make the garden an extraordinary place and satisfy the demands of his noble patrons.
Together with Ziborghi we will walk along the park’s avenues, fly over the flowerbeds, architecture and nymphaeums and rediscover, in a day dedicated to the garden, the physiognomy that this place once had, designed to arouse the admiration of the most illustrious guests.

The virtual visit is the fourth stage of the multimedia route to rediscover Villa Manin and its history, which now includes the animated paintings in the stables depicting Doge Manin, Napoleon Buonaparte, Maria Amalia of Saxony and a commoner in the service of the Manins; the tactile table in the Dorigny Room, which allows visitors to retrace the history of the Manin family’s architecture and family, and the installation dedicated to the Treaty of Campoformio.
It will be possible to enjoy the immersive experience of the garden of wonders on the first floor of the west wing in the noble body of Villa Manin.
